The numbers of visually impaired in Pakistan are at epidemic levels. 1 in 10 people are visually impaired and more than 2 million are blind in both eyes, predominantly coming from rural areas where there is no access to eye health care service.
2.5 percent of Pakistan citizens suffer from blindness out of which 80% can be treated by through awareness.
Cataract is responsible for 66.7% of the cases and a survey revealed that blindness is associated with poverty in Pakistan and no access to Eye care services was one of the contributory factors.
